Breathe Fire

I just typed this whole huge story and then hit I don't know what and deleted the whole thing! Annoying!!! I've been wanting to blog for over a week but it's hard to find a moment alone during the day and at night it seems like something else is happening or I'm too tired. I've been trying to leave myself notes when the kids say something funny. I'll start with Isaiah. Did you see the commercial during the Super Bowl where the guy and girl are having dinner. She goes to light the candles and he says allow me and then breathes fire and lights them? Then he looks like he is going to sneeze and asks if she has a cat. He then starts sneezing and ends up breathing fire with each sneeze and burns up most of the room. Isaiah saw it and thought it was pretty funny. A couple of days later he was talking about it and I told him that the guy was allergic to cats, just like Daddy. He asked me, "Would Daddy breathe fire if we had a cat?"

Last Thursday, at our regular gym play date, Isaiah wanted Sarah to scare to him. She said she couldn't scare him because he was expecting it. He started to walk away and said "I'm not expecting it."

Late this last fall Randy started to build the kids a playhouse above the sandbox. It's far from finished, but the kids are really excited about it. Every once in a while Isaiah and Olivia will talk about it. They have some very unrealistic ideas of what this playhouse is going to be like. First of all they often refer to it as a castle. They talk about actually living in it. They're going to have carpet and bedrooms, and a cat. Isaiah has had the idea that he is going to make plastic toys and that it's going to be a toy factory. After his birthday he wanted to some more pirate things to go with his pirate ship. He wanted to make some. We told him they were made out of plastic and that we didn't have any. So then he wanted to make plastic! I hope their not disappointed when the playhouse is done and it's only one room without carpet and a kitchen.

At the Dairy Queen recently I asked Olivia if she wanted an ice cream cone. "Yeah! With ice cream in it!"

Olivia's favorite hang out is the bathroom. She goes in there several times a day to put on chap stick (which is all around her mouth) or since visiting the dentist, to brush her teeth. It can be quite irritating, because she has also got into my make-up and she uses either a Kleenex or toilet paper to wipe her fingers off each time. I told her she had to stop using toilet paper because the garbage was full of it. The other night when they were getting ready for bed and went in the bathroom and Olivia had some toilet paper in her hands. I asked her what she was doing. "I'm brushing my teeth." "Why do you have toilet paper then?" "I couldn't get the lid off the tooth paste. It was hurting my fingers." She was wrapping the toilet paper around the toothpaste cap and trying to get it off.

I've been really getting frustrated lately with Olivia's choice of clothes. She comes up with the craziest outfits and thinks they look great! I always try to talk her out of them but it doesn't work. I've been trying to choose my battles but it's getting really irritating. Here's one of her latest outfits. I hope people know she dresses herself. I'm just wondering when is this going to end.

Micah is our singer. Whenever we get in the van he sings. Sometimes he gets stuck on the same note, but that's usually before he falls asleep. Sunday on the way to church he started to sing and then said, "Again, again." Then would sing just a few notes and say "Again, again." He did that a few times. He's the performer and audience in one!

Last week Micah had a couple of nasty falls. I had changed the sheet on Olivia's bed and her bed wasn't quite all the way down on the end. Micah ended up falling and hit his check on the heater by the bed. His whole cheek was red and had a purple spot in it. He ended up with a little bruise. A couple of nights later he was on Isaiah's
bed and tripped on the sheets and hit his eye on the headboard. His eyelid and eyebrow were really swollen and he had another bruise. I took a picture yesterday, it looks worse now then it did a few days ago.

Today when I was finished in the shower Isaiah came in to use the bathroom and told me that Micah had got into the fig newtons and was smashing them. I went out to the kitchen and found Micah sitting on the counter eating a fig newton and covered in crumbs and fig. He must have been having a hard time getting the package open because half of them where totally smashed. I was about to brush him off, but thought I should really take a picture of him. He doesn't look too bad in the picture but he was a sticky mess.

Cinderella

I guess Isaiah has watched a little too much of Cinderella lately. Last week he asked Randy and I, "Am I ever going to have a stepmother?" Randy immeditately said, "No!" I said, "You might. If I die and Daddy marries someone else, she would be your stepmother." Isaiah immeditately responded with, "I would not like her at all. I'd dig a big how and bury her in it!" That's my boy! j/k

Yesterday he told me he had a dream when he stayed over at Grandma's house. "It was Cinderella III. Cinderella's stepmom was about to change the Fairy Godmother into a statue, but I grabbed the wand and changed the stepmom and stepsisters into statues." When I told Randy about Isaiah's dream, he told me that when they stopped at Walmart before going to Grandma's, Isaiah and Olivia were looking at all 3 Cinderella movies and that on the back of number 3 someone was a statue (he couldn't remember who).

Not Like the Rest of the World

A couple of nights ago, Isaiah, made a picture frame out of construction paper and sticky foam animals. He was pretty proud of it. I helped him find a picture for it. We were downstairs and he was holding it up all in almost every spot imaginable trying to decide where to hang it. He didn't end up deciding that night. The next morning he was in the kitchen holding it up on the walls and the cabinets. He finally decided on a spot on one of the cabinets. He told me, "If you're cooking and we're in our room playing and don't want to stop, you can just talk to us here."

We had pork chops a few days ago for supper. Isaiah was chewing rather loudly, so I asked him if he could chew a little quieter. His response, "But I'm not like all the other people in the world, I chew with my mouth open."

Olivia has been becoming quite fond of playing in the bathroom lately. By that I mean, she always wants to go in there and put on chap stick or lotion, and to mess with things she's not supposed to. The other day she discovered some make-up in a drawer that I don't use any more. She put some lipstick on...under her lips. So, yesterday she was in there again for about the hundredth time. I didn't think too much of it.
Later when I went in there I noticed a few fine hairs on the toilet lid. I peaked in the garbage and saw more fine hairs. I went to find Olivia and asked her if she had cut her hair. I couldn't tell because two weeks ago I brought her to get her hair cut and gave her some bangs, which were at this moment off to the side. She didn't really answer me, just look at me. I straighted out her bangs and found she did indeed give herself a little haircut. Thankfully it's not too bad.

I brought the kids to the library late Thursday afternoon. We straight over to some friends house so we didn't read any of the books that night. In the morning,Isaiah was looking through the books and came across The Littles. He said,"This is a big person book." Kind of like, why did you get this?! That afternoon when I pulled it out to read, Isaiah said, "Why is it black and white? I don't like the pictures black and white." I started reading it to him and Olivia and they kept wanting me to read more. We finished it that day. I told them there were a lot more books about the Littles and they got pretty excited.

Just a cute picture of my boys.

I Just Want To Eat

Last week one night Randy and Isaiah were wrestling around in the livingroom. Olivia came in and jumped right in. Right away she started saying, "Owie, Owie," which she seems to say sometimes for attention (she wasn't hurt). Randy said, "If you don't want to get burnt don't jump in the fire". A few minutes later, after they had taken a break, Isaiah said, "Olivia, do you want to wrestle with me and Daddy?" Olivia said, "No, I don't want to get burnt up."

Last Friday, I think, but it could be any number of days, I found myself getting frustrated at lunch. I always try to get the kids all situated and then get my lunch. I'm often the one who says I'm hunger, but if I just start to eat they become vultures. They were all at the table eating and I was making myself a salad. Micah started throwing food on the floor, which seems to be his new favorite pasttime. I took him out of his chair, washed him up and put him in his crib for a timeout. I was almost done making my salad and Olivia had to go potty. I just started eating and Isaiah needed help in the bathroom. I'm eating and Olivia has to go potty again (there's something about wiping butts during a meal that makes one start to lose their appetite). The kids are all done eating by this time. I sit down and I'm eating for a couple of minute when Isaiah starts to cry. I yelled, "What's going on?" I just hear Isaiah crying and now saying, "Mommy, Mommy!" So, I leave my salad once again and go into Micah's room (where they all are) and find Olivia in Micah's crib and Isaiah kind of hanging there with one leg on each side of the crib rail. I help him down and he's still crying and saying, "She made me go in there." I first thought was, yeah right, he sounds a lot like Adam. So, anyway all that to say, I really enjoy those times when I can just sit down and eat without having to get up and wipe butts, get someone something or see what someone is doing in the other room.

Today, Isaiah, was driving one of his cars all over on the counter. He kept asking me where I wanted to go and then he'd say, That's over by the toaster, or the microwave or wherever, and then he's drive there. His car was kind of making a squeaking noise. He said, "You better go to the mechanic after this." So I did. He says, "Okay, it's fixed." Squeak, Squeak. He looked at me with an oops kind of look as I was saying, "Uh-oh!" "Mommy, it's just a toy. I don't know why it squeaks."

That Was Me

The last couple of weeks have flown by. We were with family for 11 straight days and I can honestly say it was a lot of fun! We got in a lot of game playing, swimming, and laughing. We stayed out at Breezy Resort with my family for 5 nights. The kids did really good being without a lot of toys and a different (no) routine. Micah is quite the entertainer. He would often climb up on the coffee table and clap, sing and dance. We decided he probably enjoyed seeing himself in the TV in front of him.

Santa got Isaiah a Justice League dvd. After watching some of it, we decided it was too violent and as my brother-in-law Kevin said, "The superwomen need to put on some sweatshirts and get less implants". We decided to return it. Isaiah was not very happy with us. He told me, "You can never ever talk to Santa again and tell him he should not have gotten me that!". Once we told him he could pick something new out, he seemed okay with it. The other night before bed Randy was talking to Isaiah about putting the stickers on his new car tune up shop. Randy said, "I'll put these stickers on tomorrow. I promise. If I don't we'll go out for ice cream" (Isaiah said he didn't want ice cream) . A couple of days later Isaiah told me he wanted to do school, which we haven't done for a couple of months. After I layed Micah down for his nap, Isaiah asked to watch a movie. "I thought we were going to do school," I said. "We will after the movie. I promise. If I don't then we'll have to go for ice cream" was his reply. He was dead serious. I just laughed.

Last night Olivia was "helping" me do the dishes. She farted and said, "That was me". "I know" , I said. " How? Did you thought it was you?" she asked.

Today when Randy was home for lunch, Micah kept bringing me a drink from a little ".
cup (which he would shove into my face) and then he would run back into the kitchen. After about the fourth time Randy and I wondered what he was doing. Randy peeked around the corner. Micah was bending over and pretending to scoop up something from the rug then he came racing into the livingroom again. He's moving out of the baby stage and into the toddler. He's been saying new words almost everyday. He says, apple, tickle, no, dog, duck, mama, Isaiah, Isaak, uh-oh, ouch, Tate, ball, all gone, I want out and on and on. The other day he said something and I said, "It sounded like Micah just said I want a snack" and then he said it again a couple of times. It sounded more like I want a nack. When we went to the light show over Christmas he said, "look at that, look at that

The Future

Today at lunch Isaiah and Olivia started talking about where they were going to live when they grew up. Isaiah said he was going to live far away and Olivia said she was also. Then a moment later Isaiah asked her if she wanted to live in Pine River (10 miles away) and he is going to live in Brainerd (20 miles). I hope that's all the farther they move! Isaiah told me I could watch his baby while he and his wife went to work, but I couldn't feed it (he pointed to his chest). He went on to say that I used to have wiggling things, but not anymore. They were probably wiggling after Micah was born (he was grabbing his chest while he was talking). Randy and I had a good laugh.

In case some of you miss having a 15 month old, here's a couple of Micah stories. He is always and that's not an exaggeration, pushing the chairs around the kitchen so he can see what's going on and get into stuff. It's really annoying when you are trying to cook. He likes to eat everything. The other day the kids and I were making a treat with Hershey kisses on pretzels. I had put them in the oven to soften. When I pulled it out Micah just dove right in and grabbed one and stuffed runny chocolate in his mouth. It must not have been very hot because it didn't seem to faze him.

Today when I came out to the kitchen after taking a shower there was a chair pushed up to the counter in front of the crock pot. The lid to the crock pot was on the floor along with a piece of carrot and onion and the crock pot was on high, not low where I had set it, and later I discovered Micah's sleeve was wet.

Isaiah and Olivia have been coloring a lot lately. Yesterday they rediscovered the markers. Micah is able to pull the caps off and decided to try the orange marker. His mouth was orange and the marker no longer had a tip. Today it was the purple one. I told the other two that they can only use the markers when Micah is sleeping. Which unfortunately I've been saying about a lot of things. We can't play a game when Micah is awake, we can't do a craft when Micah is awake, etc. We love him though! He makes us laugh everyday (thank goodness!). Lately he has been dancing, it's pretty entertaining. He definitely has his own moves.

Made Me Laugh

Isaiah said a couple of funny things yesterday that made me laugh. He came upstairs and told me Tate(friend Micah's age) was chewing on a barbie bottle of juice. I asked him if he took it away and he said no. I told him it would probably get ruined. " Well, we have two of them", he said," but the other one is kind of ruined already". I told him we might have to put some of the Barbie things away because they might be too small for Micah and Tate. His response, "Yeah and their mouths are big". I'm not exactly sure what he meant, but it was funny.

Last night Randy and I had a date. I was on the way to drop the kids off at our friends(Brent and Sarah) when Isaiah and Olivia started talking about watching "Frosty Returns". They had watched "Frosty" at Sarah's earlier this week and she told them that tonight they could watch the second one. I asked them if they liked "Frosty". Isaiah said "Yes, I kind of cried when Frosty melted". "You did?" I asked. "Well my eyes got wet". I thought that was funny and sweet at the same time.

Micah did something not so funny yesterday. He was sitting at the table with the other kids eating a cookie. He grabbed a toy with his frosted covered hands. When I took it away I felt that his sleeve was all wet. I asked Isaiah how his sleeve got wet. I was pretty sure I already knew the answer, but was hoping I was wrong. Isaiah said he didn't know. I went down the hall and sure enough the bathroom door was open. We always try to remember to shut it. Isaiah had been in a hurry to get dressed and go to the bathroom before our friends came over and he forgot to shut the door. Not only that but he didn't flush the toilet either. So, Micah had been in the pee water up to his elbow and was now in the kitchen eating a cookie! That really grossed me out, but he was almost done with his cookie so I let him finish before washing his hands.

Then there's Olivia...I like wearing dresses and fingernail polish, but I also like wrestling and farting. She burped today and said "I farted(pause) I farted in my mouth"!
